This is actually hard to do, specially if you don’t have an open communication with your boss. But if you really deserves a raise then no reason not to ask for it. Just make sure that you can back it up with a good and strong reasoning.
The best way for me was to ask fo a rise after a string of “achievements”. Works best if a person has an open relationship with their boss. If not, it should still be done in an open and honest way.

I agree that you need to research the pay scale for the work you do. You also need to know you are doing a great job. But with today’s economy, being able to keep your job is more of a concern than asking for a raise. I would like to know how others feel about this. Are most of you in a position to ask for a raise or are you doing the best you can just to keep the job?
